My recent work is "plein-air" (from the French: open air; out-of-doors) painting.

Painting in plein-air reveals a more improvisational spirit to my work. Emphasizing observation over technique allows me to respond to a scene in a less self-conscious way.

I am free to either complete the work on site, finish from memory in the studio, or expand these ideas into larger works.
